Quincy Ellis
and Dana Curtis are Managing Partners for Community and Capital
Solutions (COMCAP). Most recently they have been Executive Director
and Assistant Director to an Economic Development Corp., a Chamber
of Commerce and one of the largest and most successful incubation
programs in Texas. They have worked all over the State of Texas
with communities in the prioritizing and implementation of their
combined community based plans. Planning in some areas included
any or all of the listed organizations: Economic Development Corporations,
Chambers of Commerce, City Council, County Commissioners and School
boards.
The community
based planning has been done with groups as small as 10 to over
100 participants. Quincy and Dana have experience in group work
processes, which is instrumental in the planning process with communities
and companies.
In the incubation
program Quincy and Dana not only managed daily operations of the
Small Business Incubator but worked hand in hand with the companies
to provide marketing planning and assistance along with pricing
and advertising. Each company has different needs, thus the need
to provide all kinds of solutions to benefit each individually.
Quincy and Dana have been successful in recruiting businesses internationally.
They have also recruited a community college to their community
even through high political opposition.
Dana Curtis
has over 12 years Chamber experience and 8 years in Economic Development
and Incubation. Dana has managed non-profit offices and privately
owned two small businesses. She currently serves as Vice-President
of the Texas Midwest Community Network, a regional organization
developed to assist, support and politically connect cities, chambers,
and economic development corporations in Texas.
Prior to managing
the Economic Development Corporation Quincy had 29 years of business
management experience including: 15 years in Human Resource Management,
3 years Manufacturing and 11 years in National Sales and Marketing.
The incubator was featured in the 2001 NBIA publication. He graduated
from North Texas State University with a B.B.A. and holds a M. Ed.
from Springfield College. Throughout his career he has served as
adjunct faculty and guest lecturer for a number of colleges and
universities. He has also given speeches to many organizations in
various cities in the State of Texas.
